Auction Page layout and design?

I have been going thru some others eBay aution pages to look their ideas. But to my surprise, there are quite a lot of them having flash text, highlighted and bright text, amazing fonts etc. This has change my initial thinking that it should be a basic and have a clean layout isn't it?

I always thought that auction page should be of clean basic Black color font on white background page. So, do you think people care about layout and design when it comes to auction pages?

or they would just make their purchase if the items are of their interest? Wouldn't they be turn awayed with those flashing pages??

Personally I hate the clutered ones, but I also hate the ones that are just text. I think a little spice is good, and provides for a cleaner auction design.

I agree with seopro, its always smart to keep the design uncluttered as well as color flow... keep it easy on the eyes with the color combination.
