Cyber Garage Sale I have a friend with two teens and one tween (16, 14, 12). During the first rainy day after summer vacation started, the kids were driving her nuts with that "What'll I do?" syndrome.
She finally made them a business proposition. They cleaned their rooms while she and hubby cleaned the rest of the house. All unused items went into the basement. The kids were responsible for doing research on eBay to determine if the items had any market value, photographing them, creating eBay listings for them, sending invoices when the auctions ended, and shipping the items (except for the big stuff, of course), and transporting whatever didn't sell to a local charity. The kids got to split the money between them.
Not only did this keep her kids busy for several weeks, it also taught them some valuable business lessons. And my friend got a clean house. In fact, it worked so well her next project is a neighborhood cyber sale. Neat idea, huh? |
