Default Ebay Stores

What does everyone think about those Ebay stores that are popping up in cities and towns? I have not been in one, but there is one down the street now. It is my understanding that you give the item you want to sell to them, and they do the rest. I do not think I will ever use one of those.

I think it would be easier just to do it yourself. Why would you need a middle man to sell your goods when you can go and do it yourself? Know what I mean?

I don't understand the need of a middleman. If you are going to have a store, why not manage everything yourself. In my opinion that is not hard at all. This idea was only there to make Ebay more profitable . This is a bad idea by Ebay. Who are they trying to fool on this one.

Exactly. Why would you need to have someone charge you a commission for something you can sell yourself? Good point, jaggie.

I think it's targeted at people who want to sell their things by consignment, but they don't want to do it themselves. I can't imagine that the prices would be cheaper than doing it yourself. It would be intersting to understand the draw. (or the marketing tactics...)

So laziness is the source of these stores? It's seriously not that hard. You're sitting in a chair selling something over the internet.

I don't know if it's laziness, as much as computer illiteracy. I am thinking of people like my parents. They have things they would want to sell on Ebay, but not the first clue about how to actually do it. They don't have a paypal account- they don't really go on ebay - so they are just not comfortable with the process.

Some people just don't realize how easy it is and think this is an easier way out.

When I'm selling something on eBay, I'm going to do it myself. I can see a use for the stores though if it is a larger item that the person wants to sell locally. It can keep them from having the potential buyer coming to their home. It would be a good safeguard against giving strangers your address to see the item.

There are people who don't want the hassle of doing it themselves. You profit from other people's quirks.
