One step is directory submission, you have to submit your site to various site directories of course with high page rank. Then you have to trade links to other sites related to yours. Just make sure that the site you want to trade links with are all good quality sites and with higher page rank...

Thumbs up Re: promoting a business

The another step is to create a best article and promote your site by submitting that article to high page rank directories.I think this will work out and it is very easy way to promote.

You can also find forums in your niche and post replies and be active in the forum. When you have good credibility, people will consider what you recommend

I agree with submitting to Directories, however Ive not had much luck with paid ones. I get the same hits form submitting to free ones.
Also I agree with writing articles. They are by far the best way to get visitors. Most of my ezine signups come from those who have read a article of mine at a directory.
what Ive found that works lately is these online commnuities. They give you a blog, and you can advertise your URL there. And make friends with those in your niche there too.
My sales are up by 25% since I started making my profiles at communities.

I contacted newspapers, weekly flyers, business newspapers, independent newspapers, etc.. and ask about having an article written or an ad placed in the paper or flyer. They have to fill the pages of these papers and flyers so they are always on the lookout for things to ad.

Also find out what blogs, resource websites, similiar websites, etc.. are located in your home state. I found several in my home state and contacted them about supporting my business and took advantage of the fact that I was that state. I have my site written up on my many blogs and similar sites within a week or two.

Also contact your hometown newspaper, if you feel it might do something for your site. My hometown paper did a half page article about my website a week after I contacted them.

It can be done, it just takes some hard work.

Find out who is your target market and find out where they are in the net. Post in forums where they gather. Get a referral partnership pwith sites and shops with products that complement yours. Write articles that iare interesting and well-worded.

promote yourself first.

Get your name out there and build "brand" awareness. This is the same thing that the big corporations do... Nike, Microsoft, McDonald's, etc. Once you are used to seeing the "name" and "brand" you generally "follow" them... even if you're not a buyer yet. But, this is the kicker, as you see more of the "brand", you become curious, and follow-up on the company. Alright, you haven't made a decision to buy just yet, but more NEW commercials (TE exchanges, PPC, info-mercials, radio advertisements, billboards, TV commercials, etc, etc), and you are left wondering, "what is this person or company all about". This, curiosity, may lead you to eventually become a customer. That is what advertising is all about... "EXPOSURE"!

You always want "exposure" to effective. You want results! You want every person to "click, call, or buy directly" on your ads. You want to fine-tune your marketing to make every person take action... but it won't ever happen... which brings us back to "brand" name. They may not buy right now, but they may buy later.

So now I've created a paradox... advertise like crazy, but what do I promote or sell?

The best method may work for someone else, but maybe not you. Nike only sells shoes... not sodas, because they understand what the "shoe market" wants. McDonald's only sells burgers, etc.

There is no "best method" other than "brand" and "build" yourself (or company). Give something that people want or need.

To reiterate what others have said here in past posts (and what others have said outside of this forum):

1: Brand yourself - put your name or company out there. The method could be TE traffic, PPC traffic, search engine traffic, billboard, radio, television, etc... (the method of advertising is a completely different topic all together)

2: Build a list - could be an email autoresponder, or direct-marketing "snail- mail"... or even telephone number (ugh... telemarketers)

3. Stay in touch with your "list", ie: your current customers or soon-to-be customers

rinse, repeat.

Just three major things you could focus on at drawing visitors to your site:

Content, SEO, Advertisements.

I also recently posted this in another thread. Hope this helps

Link building is the key for an effective SEO campaign. This works best for PR and SERP. Always provide useful and relevant content in your websites niche as this will help in quality organic linking - sites will naturally link to your site once they see unique and helpful information in your site. Keep in mind that the more targeted backlinks you build for your site, the more likely it will bring in the right visitors that could make the conversions for better revenue. You do targeted link buidling for fast and long term traffic to your sites.

There are several ways to build links. Here are just some of the following:
Directory Submissions - targeted links at high PR directories
Blog and Forum Postings - to high PR and frequently crawled sites
Social Bookmarking
Classified Ads
Article Marketing - submit to high PR directories, could also serve as link baits
Link Exchange - with relevant and authority sites
Link Baits - for organic linking
Etc. etc.
